THE MIND AT LARGE Laid back psychedelia that could set a backdrop for any chilled out scenario. Ethereal vocals and a simmering tempo give TMAL's sound a lo-fi vibe that could soothe a sore head more effectively than a double dose of Kapake. Psychedelic, progressive experimentation is the key to TMAL's relaxing feel that still piques the interest enough for you to keep your ears pricked.
GENRE Psychedelic BIO The Mind at large started out with Alex and Tez playing the open mics around Manchester, forming the basics of a few tunes. They then got together with drummer Amir and have been playing as a band since their first gig on October 2014. They’ve a shared interest for late 60s psychedelia such as The Doors and Pink Floyd. Writing their own tunes they have come up with a psychedelic blues type sound, some songs being melancholic and seance like, whilst others verge off into psych prog and blues jams. Since their first gig they have gone on to play at most band venues across Manchester town, and bought some interesting effects pedals. They'd like to make some money at gigs too depending on the show. We don't mind traveling over the North, cities like Liverpool, Sheffield, Leeds, Blackpool. TMAL would ideally like to play nights with similar music as theirs, psychedelic and experimental stuff. Though have found good crowds on Indie nights before... they've even opened for a couple of symphonic metal shows which went down surprisingly well.. RECOMMENDATIONS As for recommendations, TMAL had a really good gig supporting White Hills for Beauty Witch promotions. They do some cool gigs at their creative mill venue in Salford. As for musicians they have played nights with Saturn Grove a new instrumental psychedelic band also out of Manchester and have had support a few times from KIR Music, an acoustic act with original material. Also the Thirsty Scholar is a great little place to play gigs in Manchester, always a good flow of people and a laid back atmosphere, cheap booze too. LOCATION Manchester
